Kirk Players to present comedy mystery — Wheaton Arts news

With the Kirk Players 61st season opener coming up, the cast and crew are deep in rehearsals—and deep in laughter—readying “An Old-Fashioned Family Murder,” a hilarious comedy/mystery sure to delight fans of both genres. Director Randy Margison is excited about the fact that the show is very new, and he hasn’t been able to see another production to get ideas.“But that’s an advantage for me,” he said in a news release, “as I have no preconceived notions about how the show should look, so it will be fresh and fun for audiences.” Margison, who directed last season’s “Twelve Angry Jurors,” is enjoying the challenge of getting the pacing right for the hilarious plot twists. “You can’t give the audience time to think about how ridiculous this all is,” he said. “You can’t give them time to analyze it.” The show was suggested to the group by cast member James Torbeck, playing Detective Paul Peck in the show, who discovered the 1940s mystery comedy written by two-time Tony winner Joe DiPietro.
